Where have all the dragons gone?

Dragonbound is a series of epic high fantasy novels and short stories. The original publication of the first novel, Fireborne, was as an eight-four-episode serial on the Kindle Vella service. That service has since closed, so Dragonbound lost its home.

I have long debated whether to republish the Fireborne series as a novel and continue with the series. I have already written and outlined many stories and other content in the Dragonbound universe. In my outlines, it is huge and everything you’d expect from a six-part (or more) epic fantasy with dragons. However, I have not convinced myself that I have a strong enough readership who are interested in the series. There are a few who would adamantly disagree with that assessment.

The expectations of a series like this have changed over the years since I originally wrote Fireborne (1996), especially in the last few years. So, although I still love the story and am satisfied with it for its time, as a new release today, it may not be a good fit for the genre.

So, reviving the series is not out of the question, but for the moment, it is on hiatus.
